✦ A COLLECTOR OF STORIES ✦
A Little About Me
Every story starts somewhere.
I’ve always been fascinated by stories. Not just the big, famous ones that end up in history books, but the little ones, too. The everyday lives, forgotten details, unexpected discoveries, and connections that remind us just how interesting people really are.
I’m also spectacularly good at falling down rabbit holes.
One interesting question leads to another. A name in an old document becomes a family to investigate. A bundle of letters becomes a window into someone’s world. A passing curiosity becomes an entire project. Before I know it, I’ve discovered something wonderful, learned a dozen things I didn’t know yesterday, and probably started three more projects along the way.
I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Following the Connections
Genealogy has been part of my life for more than twenty years, and it’s taught me something important: history isn’t just a collection of dates and events. It’s people.
Every person has a story, and every story is connected to countless others.
Much of my professional work revolves around helping people discover, document, and understand those connections. Through my work with WikiTree, the International Institute of Genealogical Studies, and as a Fellow of the Global Cohesion Centre, I get to explore different ways that family history and our shared human story can bring people together.
I find that endlessly fascinating.
Giving the Past a Voice
One of my greatest passions is Mail Call WWII, a project dedicated to preserving and sharing the personal stories of people who lived through the Second World War.
I collect and research original letters, photographs, and other pieces of personal history. Each collection introduces me to real people whose lives were shaped by extraordinary circumstances, but whose hopes, worries, friendships, and everyday experiences often feel remarkably familiar.
I think of them as neighbors I’ve only just met.
Through Mail Call WWII, I’m building a place where their stories can be preserved, explored, and shared, one letter and one life at a time.
And Then There Are the Rabbit Holes…
Of course, history and genealogy aren’t my only interests.
I love books, creative projects, learning new things, and following ideas just to see where they lead. Sometimes that means researching a historical mystery. Sometimes it means experimenting with storytelling, creating comics, or developing something entirely unexpected.
Some projects become big adventures. Others are simply fun detours.
I think there’s room for both.
Welcome to My Corner of the World
This website is a gathering place for all those interests, projects, discoveries, and occasional flights of fancy.
It’s part professional home, part creative playground, and part invitation to explore.
I’m glad you found your way here.
Pull up a chair, choose a rabbit hole, and stay awhile.
There’s always another story waiting to be discovered.
